Hand Sewing & Embroidery

Date/Time
23/11/2014 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Maria loves that this is a chance to share useful & beautiful hand stitches which are becoming a lost art!
On this workshop you will get the chance to learn and practise a range of hand sewing & embroidery stitches.
If you would simply like to know how to sew on a button, sew in a name tag or take up a hem then this is your chance to learn. You will either practise on scraps or you could bring along a few of your own examples that are in need of this attention!
There will also be the chance to learn & practise a few of the more decorative embroidery stitches – if this is what you fancy trying.

Like knitting and patchwork, embroidery is proving popular again as people discover the pleasure of a hobby which you can pick up & do whilst relaxing in the evenings. These don’t tend to be the kind of projects which get finished in a few hours but during this workshop we will make sure that you get to learn & practise enough stitches & techniques to be able to carry on at home or bring along to our next Knit & Stitch Club.
If you have your own supply of embroidery thread, needles, fabric & hoops etc. please bring these along to use during the class.

You may have noticed that embroidery hoop art is proving very popular at the moment (see Pinterest, Etsy or the Debenhams Home Collection for examples) – it makes a very lovely personalised gift for any special occasion.
During the class we will also keep you suitably refreshed & refueled with our great selection of loose leaf teas, freshly ground coffee and homemade cakes!
