Cafe Sewciety

New Year, New Sewing Studio!

Just in case you are wondering what has happened to Café Sewciety (or Cordial & Grace as many of you still remembered us) here is an update.

After 3 generally enjoyable but all-consuming years of running the combined tea room & sewing café in Clifton Village I decided to simplify the business so that I can turn all my attention to providing a friendly & tranquil place to sew.

So on the 21st December, with great sadness, we closed the purple door to customers for the final time. I shall really miss our lovely customers, happy staff & friendly neighbours & thank all of you for your custom, conversation & support over the last 3 years.

Since then (with some amazing help from friends & family) I’ve been busy moving out, sorting storage & finding a new venue.

One month on I am therefore delighted to be able to tell you that in the last week I have settled into a new studio in the vibrant, friendly & independent area of Montpelier. I am looking forward to getting to know the area & sharing my discoveries with you over the coming months.

As well as focusing on providing a tranquil place to sew I’m hoping I shall find more time to develop more workshops, create my own sewing patterns, keep up a regular blog & do more to publicise the business  – oh and maybe get to do a bit of sewing for myself too!

Right now I am up & running offering private sewing lessons, sew-with-a-friend lessons, sewing get-togethers (for 3-4 people), workshops & sewing parties – please use the website menu (on the left) to find out more.

I’m sorry if these changes come as a bit of a surprise & that I missed to say goodbye before we closed.

If you are interested in sewing then I hope you will seek me out in Montpelier.

If your interests lie more with great coffee, proper tea & homemade cakes then please keep an eye on this blog. I intend to regularly mention the best of Bristol’s independent cafés that I discover now that I am out & about seeking the same!

Belatedly wishing you all a happy & creative 2015!
